Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction Winner Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction Winner

Naomi Alderman has won the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction for her feminist sci-fi novel The Power.

What if the power to hurt were in women's hands? Suddenly - tomorrow or the day after - teenage girls find that with a flick of their fingers, they can inflict agonising pain and even death. With this single twist, the four lives at the heart of Naomi Alderman's extraordinary, visceral novel are utterly transformed.

The Power is available as a book and as an ebook in our online catalogue.

Animal Agents

It's almost that time of year again and we're getting excited about this year's Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge.

This year's theme is Animal Agents so become a super sleuth and follow the clues to help solve the crime.

The fun is open to everyone aged 4 to 12 and this year we also have our special pre-4 challenge. The challenge - should you choose to accept it - is to read ANY six books during the summer holidays. You can choose any books that appeal  - all you have to do is borrow them from your local Glasgow library.

And remember you can pick up fun rewards along the way and  a sticker for every book you read.

All those completing the challenge will get an Animal Agents certificate.

Starts In All Libraries On Friday 23rd June - See You Then.
