Alzheimer Scotland Action on Dementia logo

Glasgow Libraries are working with Alzheimer Scotland for people experiencing / living with dementia conditions.

Dementia is a common condition. Your risk of developing dementia increases as you get older, and the condition usually occurs in people over the age of 65.

These books may help you to gain more of an understanding of dementia conditions, help you to self-manage and hear the experiences of others.

Research shows that reading, whether for pleasure or to learn, has a significant impact on wellbeing.

How’s your brain health? Take a quick quiz with hosted and supported by Alzheimer Scotland and build your personal Brain Health Plan www.brainhealth.scot/glasgow

To mark World Book Day 2023 Alzheimer Scotland shared a variety of book recommendations that are tailored towards dementia, with a focus on real life stories and academic guide books that provide both advice and guidance.

The recommendations below are from a variation of colleagues within Alzheimer Scotland, NDCAN members (National Dementia Carers Action Network) and carers. For more information visit the World Book Day page on Alzheimer Scotland's website.

You can call Alzheimer Scotland's 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline: 0808 808 3000.

All of our libraries are recognised as dementia friendly environments.
