The Mitchell Library has a large amount of material donated by the well-known Glasgow poet - and first Scottish 'Makar' - Edwin Morgan (1920-2010). As well as manuscripts, photographs and other items, the largest part of the collection is Morgan's own working library.
A diverse collection of books and pamphlets, it reflects the poet's areas of interest with a special emphasis in all aspects of literature, poetry and verse. Scottish History and fiction are also well-represented. Some books have their own inserts by Morgan - mostly cuttings and comments - or the author's signature or dedication. Most works are in English but there is some foreign language material.
Items from this Collection can be consulted in the search room on Level 5 at The Mitchell. Proof of ID and home address are usually required and customers may be asked for photo ID for some items. For more information, please contact Special Collections.
