The world’s largest online family history resource and the best place to build a family tree, find new ancestors, search historical records and share discoveries with family. During the temporary library closure period, we can offer partial access to Ancestry remotely for library members. Unfortunately licensing issues mean that we are unable to offer full access to Ancestry. Please follow this link for access to electoral registers for Glasgow for the years 1857-1962. You will need to create a free registered guest account, providing an email address and password and accepting the terms and conditions of the website. Discover the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive from home. You can watch thousands of films at home, for free, through the Moving Image Archive catalogue. Search or browse 125 years of Scotland’s screen history captured by amateur and professional film-makers. Armchair travel through your favourite places in Scotland, learn through documentaries or keep everyone entertained with a family-friendly adventure. There are also lesson plans based around material in the archive that can be used by anyone teaching remotely or looking for home school activities. For example with Burns Night coming up, older children can explore the Scots language by watching the films in this lesson. The @nlskelvinhall Twitter provides regular #FilmFriday content – highlighting a few titles on a theme each week.
